Spatial Design for The Lighthouse, the Kids building for FBC Leesburg’s newest campus in Oxford, FL.
The Lighthouse was undergoing a renovation reconfiguring the interior layout to accommodate extra kids classrooms. My involvement included creative direction for the theme, and design of all exterior signage, interior signage, interior fabrications/props, finish selections, and classroom murals.
The Lighthouse’s mantra is: Guiding Young Hearts Toward Christ. Our goal was to align with the main church’s mission of being a light to their community, while create a unique identity for the kids space. The lighthouse theme comes to life in a way that feels fun, playful, nautical and vibrant.
In our very first kickoff meeting we discussed the possibility of an actual lighthouse in the space. With the small-ish lobby and budget-considerations, it was no small feat but this stunningly detailed piece of art actually has a moving light inside and light-up windows. And it’s flat at the back to secure to the wall with a low profile.
Combined with the nautical theming of the custom murals, modern signage, fabrications and props, the kids space inspires wonder and adventure.
PROCESS
Spatial Design projects with The Honest Pixel start with Discovery, then move into Mood Boards and Sketches, where we determine the style and creative direction for your unique space.
Most projects include 2 Phases. Phase 1, Conceptual Design, is geared towards design. The process is collaborative, including revisions and renderings, making it easy to visualize how the design will come to life.
Phase 2 focuses on preparing the design for execution. In this phase, we nail down actual budgets, dimensions, materials, and products. Together we look at samples of finishes and discuss details with installers to make sure the end product aligns with the vision.
